What a Weekend!

You know, I really do have a pretty wonderful husband. He has been conspiring for the last month to take me on a surprise trip for my birthday. Considering how nosy I am, I am shocked he pulled it off! He couldn't have done it without the help of Shannon, who i work with. Poor thing went behind me cancelling appointments I was making left and right. Apparantly, I was planning to have a busy weekend. So, I am at work a little before 5 on thursday, and all of a sudden bj comes barreling around the corner carrying a cheesecake. Let me explain the cheesecake.... i am in a cookbook club that meets once a month and i was in charge of dessert this month. We were meeting thursday night, and i had made a white chocolate cheescake wednesday night in preparation. Well, BJ put it on a cake stand and even shaved white chocolate on top of the cake. So you can understand i am utterly confused as to why bj is bringing the cheesecake to work. Shannon grabs the cake and they both look at me and say..."you're leaving!" Seriously??? So i get to the car and there is Alex (not to worry, a student worker had snuck out to sit with her) and a car loaded down. BJ had packed everything!!! So we headed to winona to hand off alex to my mom and then bj and i headed to memphis. We had a blast. We stayed at the river inn on mud island. That place is incredible! he booked spa treatments for me all afternoon friday and had reservations for us friday night at Flight. Yummy! He then gave me free range to go shopping saturday morning because he informed me my wardrobe was pretty rough (he discovered this after packing for me). We went to The Avenue and shopped and met Baker, Allison, and Maggie for lunch. We had such a good time! I cannot believe how big maggie is now! We headed back to Starkvegas late saturday afternoon. It was a wonderful birthday surprise. Here is a picture of us at the hotel. Remember...i didn't pack for myself.

You notice the funny looking brace on my hand? well, yesterday i had wrist surgery. all went well and i am in not too much pain (yay!!). I am in a bulky soft cast though, so i am pretty useless when it comes to Alex. Here is a pic...

So mom came yesterday to help us out. BJ had to work last night, so she took care of alex for us. That of course included trying on swimsuits for this summer. She has some precious hand me downs from Cousin Isabel that are 12 months. Alex is just over 6 months, so we figured they would be a little large...wrong! Chunky monkey filled them out! have you ever seen thighs like that??? She is such a big girl she is sitting up (and falling down) now. We are so proud!!! And i am now obsessed with Picasa 3 and the cool collages it does...so just bear with me!
