Just an update...

I've been pretty lackadaisical about posting recently...oops! We have been pretty busy, though. We went to Greenville last weekend for the Ole Miss/MSU Tennis and Golf tourney. We had lots of fun. BJ played golf with Adam and Mr. Jones. He had a great time! He even won "Closest to the Pin", whatever that is. So he is now the proud owner of two free nights at Harlows, dinner at Harlows, AND four tickets to Patty Loveless... jealous anyone? I had a great time watching tennis all day saturday. We also got to see lots of friends! We will be hanging out in Starkvegas for Easter. BJ has to work all weekend :( Oh well, that's part of life in retail.

On the baby front, I had an appointment this morning. All is well. Heart beat sounded good at 148. That's when the doctor proclaimed "sounds like a boy". He then remembers I had a sonogram four weeks ago and asked what the sonogram showed. "Girl," I said. "Oops" he says. Pretty funny conversation. So we'll see what's cooking in there. I still think it's a girl...i've thought that the whole time. Could be wrong though...wouldn't be the first time!!! We then started in on my weight...always a fun conversation. I have gained one pound since my last visit. My net weight gain for the whole pregnancy is -1. He said that's fine, but I now have to gain weight. Seriously, explain to me how I am constantly trying to loose weight when i'm not pregnant and I gain weight. Then I get pregnant, eat a bunch trying to gain weight, and end up loosing it? i'm so confused....

A little snow and a little baby

It snowed a few week ago and of course BJ and I had to get Carter and Stella out in it. There was around two inches on the ground, so we had lots of fun. Stella had never actually been in the snow. She loved it :) She had to check it out of course, but she started prancing around in it.

On the baby front, I had an appointment this morning. I have yet to have just a normal, relaxing appointment, and today was no exception. The MD listened to the heartbeat (which was good) and looked at me. He then said, "let's get a sonogram and make sure it's not twins." So, I called up BJ (who was at home in his PJs), and he drove to the clinic for the big reveal. It turned out to be one baby, who is just resting really high - like underneath my bellybutton. The baby was kicking and dancing the whole time. It was so amazing to see! We think it is a girl. We had a very good "shot" of the appropriate area, and there was no 5th appendage :) of course, I am only 15 weeks, so we can't be positive. Here are some pics taken today!!

A few appropriate funnies

This is so accurate, it's sad.

This is me...now...at three months...sad

This is literally what i looked like in the three days between when we could find out, and when we went to the MD. Bj actually forbid me from buying more of them (he didn't believe them either)

sweet tea doesn't count....right?

so if it's in a pitre dish...what does that mean?

I'm still convinced i'm having twins

No comment needed

The Octuplets...and other random thoughts

Interestingly enough, I have had multiple people ask me my opinion on the "octuplet controvery" coming out of California. I guess since I have been through all of this, people want to know my "expert" (and i use the term very loosely) opinion. hmmm.... well, i personally blame the shenanigans on the MD. it is not ethical, and statistically not better, to implant more than three eggs. so to implant six eggs is pure craziness. now, the fact that they implanted six and two split to give a grand total of eight implanted eggs...wow. it makes me wonder if it is all a cover up and she didn't do IVF. mabye she was just on follistim or clomid (or some similar drug)to produce more eggs and she got pregnant that way. with that process, you cannot control the outcome of how many eggs are fertilized. i think it is all very interesting, and i think the press should leave the woman alone (i do think child services should take a long look there, though) . i think the doctor, however, should be looked at very closely by the medical board in california. alright...enough of that. next topic...

Mississippi State Basketball. That is one of our favorite things about living in Starkvegas. We have seen the bulldogs play in some amazing games the last couple of weeks. Some we won, some we lost. But they were all GREAT games to watch. The Marconi's have been wonderful to us and lent us tickets for most of the games...so thanks so much!!! BJ even sent Jessica a text the other day that said "I think I am becoming an MSU basketball fan" -- don't worry, she saved the text :) Hopefully, they can pull out a few more wins, kick butt in the SEC tourny, and then make a great run in the NCAA tournamet.

Next, Kappa Delta Shamrock Week. Oh yes all you Kappa Delta ladies out there (and of course anyone else who would like to donate), it's that time of year again. The girls are putting on several functions during the week -- who can forget KD late night pancakes. But most importantly, on Saturday and Sunday they are doing volunteer work all over Starkville. Each girl has to raise $150 in sponsor money. 80% of the money will stay around Starkville to help local charities, and the other 20% goes to KD's national philanthropy. If anyone would like to donate, you can send a check addressed to Jessica Alexander to my house. Email me, and I will give you the address. Every $5 counts, so thanks in advance for your help!

Finally...Happy Birthday BJ!!!! (and yes, I know i'm a day late) BJ turned 29 on Sunday, and we celebrated by going to Tupelo to meet his parents for lunch. Then most importantly, he went to Dick's Sporting Goods to shop for golf goodies. Courtney and Casey cooked us a wonderful dinner sunday night, too! So good!! Love you BJ and hope 29 is a GREAT year for you!!!

Those are all my thoughts for now....have a great week :)

The Elephant on the Blog...

You know how the giant elephant in the room thing works...everyone knows about something, but it is not discussed. I guess it is about time I formally announce it on my blog...i'm pregnant!!! This has been a very long and hard road we have traveled, and we are so thrilled to be here! I am due September 2nd, which makes me 7 wks now. Yes, I know that is early to tell people, but I figure the more prayers at this point, the better. We went to Jackson last week for a sonagram and we saw the heartbeat...very cool :) I went to my normal OBGYN today for my first appointment and everything went fine -- it was actually pretty uneventful. I was wanting another sonagram to make sure something was in there -- still having a hard time believing that this has actually happened!! So anyway, I feel pretty good - just a few bouts of nausea but nothing major. Trust me, no complaints!!! So, keep us in your prayers of these next 7 months, and I will keep you posted! I will post a pic of my first sonagram when i get a chance...and a scanner.

Cirque du Soleil

BJ surprised me with tickets to go see Cirque du Soleil in Tupelo. The show we saw was Saltimbanco. It was amazing! Neither of us has every seen a Cirque show before. If you get a chance, go see one. Afterward, we went to eat at the new hibachi restaurant in Tupelo, Kyoto. Really good if you are ever in town. On another note, everyone knows I am a giant movie fan. I wanted to share some good ones I have seen recently.

1. Doubt -- Meryl Streep is amazing. The woman is, to me, the best actress on the planet. I had never even heard of this one before LJ recommended it, but it was worth it. Meryl Street, Amy Adams, and Phillip Seymore Hoffman were all nominated for Golden Globes for it. It's a good, serious, movie.

2. Marley and Me -- almost completely embarrased myself in the movie theater. I had to look away from the screen and think different thoughts in order to hold my self backing from going over the emotional edge. Good movie.

3. Australia -- I loved it. It is long, but doesn't really seem like it. I feel like it is a true "movie" -- reminiscent of Gone With the Wind and other epic tales. Plus, who doesn't want to watch hugh jackman for three hours?

Hope you get a chance to see some of them!!

December...a retrospective

I guess I accidentally took a small hiatus from the blogging world. Oops :) And yes, I know it is not fall anymore, but the site I get my backgrounds from is down right now. Busy month. December was a good month for BJ and I. We both had really good work schedules (I was off for two weeks and BJ actually got off several days for christmas). We had lots of fun get togethers. It started with our pharmacy Christmas party. Shannon, Sheila, Holly, Callie, and I headed over to Anthony's for dinner. Lots of fun...it's always nice to get together far away from work. We also had our supper club Christmas Party at The Veranda.

BJ had to work, but I had a great time! A few weeks later, the Skeltons, the Marconi's, and us hosted a tacky christmas party. We had so much fun! The turnout was great, and so were the costumes. Trey and Rebeccah Schilling won our Tackiest Couple award. I unfortunately didn't take many pictures! I did, however, get a few.

I was fortunate enough to hang out in Greenville for several days and see family and friends. John Michael came and stayed for a few days, and Jessica roped him into making a gingerbread house with her. It was pretty entertaining watching them both try to do it. The funniest part was when BJ got in town and started eating the house. Jess was not amused.

Finally, after a low key, but very good New Years, we headed off to Dallas, TX for the Cotton Bowl. BJ and I went with the Courtney and Casey Skelton, Casey's brother Matt and his friend Jeff. We had a blast. Very quick trip -- flew out on the 1st and back on the 3rd. We ate at the best steak house, Pappas Brothers, and got to watch a fantastic football game. I only got a few pictures. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of Courney, Casey, and Matt ice skating (there was a rink at our hotel). We had lots of fun :)

So we had a wonderful, and very blessed, holiday. Hopefully everyone else did too. I promise it won't be so long until I post next time ;)

About Me

Our lives together began on the first day of pharmacy school. We finally became official on May 24, 2003, a year before graduation. We have moved five times in our five years together, but have finally settled down in Starkville with our two dogs, Carter Bug and Stella Bella.
