My Favorite Tu-tu

At my baby shower at home, my sisters gave me a basket of goodies. On top of the basket was alot of tulle, which i assumed was filler. Oops! it was a tu-tu that laura merrill and jessica made for Alex. She had some pictures in it when she was a few weeks old, but I brought it out the other day for her to play with. She loved it!

Our first family vacations

So.... we headed down to Sandestin as a family last wednesday night. Just the three of us to enj0y several days in the sun relaxing. yeah... didn't quit go as planned :) The only pretty day was Thursday, and we managed to make it to the beach for 1½ hours. Alex was so excited to be on vacation, she decided to start each day at approximately 5am. Not cool. She did, however, behave wonderfully at dinner each night. So we were able to eat some really good food. We had a really good time despite not doing much. But seriously, I now need to go lie on a beach somewhere by myself to destress from vacations. Here are some pics...

Super Bulldog Weekend

Okay, so it took me until the next day to finish posting. But at least i'm doing it, right? Anyway, Super Bulldog Weekend was last weekend. The McCools came and stayed with us. We had such a wonderful time! Alex just fell in love with Maggie! I think Maggie enjoyed playing with her, too. Saturday was also the Cotton District Arts Festival. I worked at the children's village for four hours while Alex hung out with the grandparent's listening to her uncle play music. I think she very much enjoyed that :) After that, she and I walked around for a few minutes, but it was super hot so we didn't make it long. Here are some recent pics...

Washington DC

Yes, I know... long time, no post. Well, we have been super busy! I plan on doing several posts today to catch everyone up. BJ and I took a trip to our nations capital over the Easter holiday. We had a blast!!! It was the cherry blossom festival, so the town was just beautiful. We did everything touristy you can imaging (except climb to the top of the washington monument -- we had already done plenty of walking). We ate some excellent food, too. Our favorite was our last night there. We ate at an Italian restaurant in Georgetown. wow!!!!! Filomena Ristorante. The food was incredible and the atmosphere fun and family. The place was decorated for Easter. Our table was in the middle of the restaurant and I counted 26 stuffed bunnies and an airplane in my view, and BJ had 27 bunnies in his view. here is a pic...
I highly recommend a trip to DC for anyone! We can't wait to take Alex back :) She spent the Easter holiday in Greenville. See Laura Merrill's blog for cute pictures in her Easter dress.

some new pics

Time is really flying by, and I am pretty sure I have been out of town more than in. So here are some pics and a video I took tonight of Alex. She is "crawling"... more of an army crawl than a proper crawl, but we are proud nonetheless :)

What a Weekend!

You know, I really do have a pretty wonderful husband. He has been conspiring for the last month to take me on a surprise trip for my birthday. Considering how nosy I am, I am shocked he pulled it off! He couldn't have done it without the help of Shannon, who i work with. Poor thing went behind me cancelling appointments I was making left and right. Apparantly, I was planning to have a busy weekend. So, I am at work a little before 5 on thursday, and all of a sudden bj comes barreling around the corner carrying a cheesecake. Let me explain the cheesecake.... i am in a cookbook club that meets once a month and i was in charge of dessert this month. We were meeting thursday night, and i had made a white chocolate cheescake wednesday night in preparation. Well, BJ put it on a cake stand and even shaved white chocolate on top of the cake. So you can understand i am utterly confused as to why bj is bringing the cheesecake to work. Shannon grabs the cake and they both look at me and say..."you're leaving!" Seriously??? So i get to the car and there is Alex (not to worry, a student worker had snuck out to sit with her) and a car loaded down. BJ had packed everything!!! So we headed to winona to hand off alex to my mom and then bj and i headed to memphis. We had a blast. We stayed at the river inn on mud island. That place is incredible! he booked spa treatments for me all afternoon friday and had reservations for us friday night at Flight. Yummy! He then gave me free range to go shopping saturday morning because he informed me my wardrobe was pretty rough (he discovered this after packing for me). We went to The Avenue and shopped and met Baker, Allison, and Maggie for lunch. We had such a good time! I cannot believe how big maggie is now! We headed back to Starkvegas late saturday afternoon. It was a wonderful birthday surprise. Here is a picture of us at the hotel. Remember...i didn't pack for myself.
You notice the funny looking brace on my hand? well, yesterday i had wrist surgery. all went well and i am in not too much pain (yay!!). I am in a bulky soft cast though, so i am pretty useless when it comes to Alex. Here is a pic...
So mom came yesterday to help us out. BJ had to work last night, so she took care of alex for us. That of course included trying on swimsuits for this summer. She has some precious hand me downs from Cousin Isabel that are 12 months. Alex is just over 6 months, so we figured they would be a little large...wrong! Chunky monkey filled them out! Here is a sample...

have you ever seen thighs like that??? She is such a big girl she is sitting up (and falling down) now. We are so proud!!! And i am now obsessed with Picasa 3 and the cool collages it does...so just bear with me!
